Sheila is a Principal in Deloitte Financial Advisory Service LLP. She leads the National Reorganization Services Practice providing workout, turnaround and bankruptcy services. In addition, Ms. Smith leads the New England Financial Advisory Services Function overseeing Corporate Finance, Forensic & Dispute, Valuation, Economic Consulting and Business Intelligence Services.
Ms. Smith has over seventeen years of professional experience in providing restructuring and financial consulting services, litigation support and corporate finance experience. Her particular focus derived from having worked in the consumer products industry and delivering cost containment and performance improvement services to return companies to profitability. Her clients have included Bob’s Stores, Casual Male, Gentek, Joan & David, Kitchens Etc., MCI/Worldcomm, Pittsburgh Penguins, Testa Hurwitz LLP, Tweeter Etc., and Wedgewood/Waterford.
Ms. Smith was the 2005 recipient of the Turnaround Management Association’s International Outstanding Individual Contribution Award for her eminence in the profession. She is the former president of the Turnaround Management Association of New England and the former Vice President of TMA International as well as having served on multiple TMA International committees.
She has spoken at numerous restructuring, distressed investing and turnaround conferences as well as having provided expert testimony for various Chapter 11 proceedings. She has published and been quoted in articles by the Boston Business Journal, Fortune Small Business, The Economist, Reuters, Dow Jones Daily Bankruptcy Review, and other business journals.
Ms. Smith is a Certified Insolvency & Reorganization Advisor and received her M.B.A. from Boston University. She received her B.S. Ed and M.S. Ed from State University, Buffalo, NY.
