Professor Colin Blaydon is the founding Director of the Center for Private Equity and Entrepreneurship at the Tuck School of Business, Dartmouth College. He is also the William and Josephine Buchanan Professor of Management and Dean Emeritus at the Tuck School. He served as Dean of the School from 1983-90, and again in 1994-95. Professor Blaydon has been on the faculties of both Harvard and Duke Universities and served as Vice Provost of Academic Policy and Planning at Duke. He received his B.E.E. from the University of Virginia, and both his A.M. and Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University.
In addition to his academic career, Professor Blaydon has served in the Department of Defense and the Office of Management and Budget. In the private sector, he has been a Principal and Managing Director of two professional consulting firms, executive Chairman of a systems integration and software firm and a board member of a number of corporations and not-for-profit institutions. Professor Blaydon also serves on the advisory boards of several private equity funds.
Professor Blaydon teaches Private Equity Finance and has also taught courses on Entrepreneurship and Corporate Governance. His research interests are in the areas of private equity finance, both venture capital and buyout, and in the strategies and governance of firms providing or receiving private equity financing. He has published articles in the Venture Capital Journal, Private Equity International, European Business Forum and Financial Times among others. He frequently gives interviews on Private Equity to the business media including CNN, CNBC, Bloomberg News, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, NPTV and NPR among others.
